RESTORATION CARPENTRY
Immediate Opening
We are offering a position for a restoration woodworker for immediate hire, ideal for individuals passionate about historic preservation and skilled craftsmanship. This is an in-shop position focused on restoring and fabricating historic wood elements, such as window sashes, doors, shutters, railings, and more. No on-site work is required.
Ideal candidates will have some experience in:
Window sash repair or fabrications
Working with machine tools such as jointers, planers, table saws, routers, sanders, etc.
Artistic skills such as glazing, putty work, or clay modeling
Duties:
Disassemble and restore historic wood elements: stripping, sanding, prepping, and reassembly
Lead-safe work in a containment area (full PPE provided)
Make woodworking repairs, epoxy repairs, and fabricate replacement parts to match original designs
Create historically accurate wood components for sashes, doors, and shutters
Requirements:
Must be detail-oriented, responsible, and able to work independently
Comfort with hand and power tools is essential
English proficiency required
Willingness to follow lead-safe protocols and wear provided protective equipment
Position Details:
Contract-based position
30–40 hours/week
Pay increases based on skill development and expertise
