Position Summary
Rybit is seeking a skilled and dependable Bike Mechanic to support the repair, maintenance, assembly, refurbishment, and inspection of our growing fleet of traditional and electric bicycles.
The Bike Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, completing repairs efficiently, preparing bikes for new and existing subscribers, and maintaining Rybit's quality and safety standards.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, troubleshooting problems, working independently, and being part of a fast-paced mobility operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain electric and traditional bicycles.
- Perform routine maintenance including brake adjustments, drivetrain servicing, tire and tube replacement, wheel adjustments, and component replacement.
- Diagnose basic electrical and e-bike related issues involving batteries, motors, displays, controllers, wiring, sensors, and electronic components.
- Service multiple e-bike brands and models, including VanMoof, Tenways, Urtopia, and other bikes within the Rybit fleet.
- Assemble and perform quality-control inspections on newly received bicycles.
- Refurbish returned subscription bikes and prepare them for future customers.
- Complete safety inspections before bikes are released to customers.
- Troubleshoot customer-reported mechanical and electrical problems.
- Perform bike swaps and prepare replacement bicycles when repairs cannot be immediately completed.
- Accurately document repairs, parts used, bike condition, and service status within Rybit's internal systems.
- Maintain accurate bike and parts inventory.
- Identify parts needed for upcoming repairs and communicate inventory needs to management.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workshop.
- Follow established Rybit repair, refurbishment, safety, and quality-control procedures.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and preparing incoming bike and parts shipments.
- Support customer bike pickups, returns, and service appointments when necessary.
- Work with customer support, operations, and other Rybit locations to resolve rider and fleet-related issues.
- Assist with corporate fleet programs, bike deployments, pickups, deliveries, or events when operationally required.
- Identify recurring mechanical or product issues and communicate findings to management and product/service teams.
- Previous bicycle repair or mechanic experience preferred.
- Experience working with electric bicycles is strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with bicycle braking systems, drivetrains, wheels, tires, chains, bottom brackets, and other common bicycle components.
- Comfortable learning to diagnose electronic and software-related e-bike issues.
- Ability to safely use bicycle repair tools and shop equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to follow repair procedures while independently troubleshooting unusual problems.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where repair priorities may change throughout the day.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to accurately document completed work and bike conditions.
- Valid Drivers License
- Ability to regularly lift and move bicycles and equipment weighing approximately 50–70 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform hands-on mechanical work for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, bicycle repair stands, and other workshop equipment.
