POSITION SUMMARY
The Safety Specialist supports and maintains the company’s safety program for temporary
employees assigned to customer worksites. The Safety Specialist serves as a field
representative of the Safety Department and promotes a strong safety culture.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Jobsite Safety Inspections
Conduct regular and documented safety inspections of customer jobsites where
company temporary employees are assigned.
Inspect jobsites for unsafe conditions, unsafe work practices, housekeeping issues, slip,
trip, and fall hazards, struck-by hazards, caught-in/between hazards, electrical hazards,
PPE requirements, equipment hazards, and other recognized hazards.
Observe temporary employees performing their assigned duties and verify that work is
being performed in accordance with company safety requirements.
Speak directly with employees regarding the tasks they are performing and provide
safety coaching when necessary.
Document observations, corrective actions, employee coaching, and recommendations
in the company’s Safety Inspection Report (SIR) or applicable reporting system.
Conduct follow-up inspections and re-inspections to verify that identified hazards have
been corrected.
Immediately communicate serious or imminent hazards to the appropriate
management personnel.
Temporary Employee Safety
Promote a safety-first culture among all temporary employees.
Ensure employees understand the safety requirements associated with their assigned
positions.
Reinforce the company’s safety policies, procedures, and prohibited-work requirements.
Coach employees regarding safe work practices and appropriate PPE.
Identify employees who may require additional training or retraining.
Report employees who are assigned duties outside the scope of their approved
assignment.
Ensure employees understand that they have the right and responsibility to report
unsafe conditions or work activities.
Reinforce the requirement that employees immediately report workplace injuries,
incidents, and unsafe conditions.
Customer and Host Employer Relations
Establish professional working relationships with customer representatives,
superintendents, supervisors, and other site management personnel.
Introduce themselves to the appropriate site representative upon arrival.
Explain the role of the company’s Safety Department and its commitment to employee
safety.
Communicate safety concerns professionally and respectfully.
Work cooperatively with customers and host employers to correct identified hazards.
Safety Training and Orientation
Provide safety training to temporary employees based on their assigned duties and
identified hazards.
Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, refresher training, and employee coaching as
assigned.
Assist with maintaining safety training records and employee acknowledgements.
Assist branch personnel in ensuring that required safety orientation materials are
properly presented to employees.
Incident and Injury Management
Respond promptly to employee injury and incident notifications.
Assist with accident and incident investigations.
Interview employees and witnesses when appropriate.
Document facts surrounding the incident accurately and objectively.
Identify contributing factors and recommend corrective actions.
Communicate incidents to the Director of Safety and appropriate management
personnel.
Assist with workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes as directed.
Monitor corrective actions resulting from incident investigations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Safety, construction, industrial, staffing, or related experience preferred.
OSHA safety training and/or OSHA 10/30-hour certification preferred.
OSHA Outreach Trainer or other advanced safety credentials preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and general workplace
