SawJet CNC Machine Operator

We are a busy stone fabrication shop in Hawthorne, NJ looking for an experienced and dependable SawJet CNC Machine Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating CNC saw CNC Router and Waterjet equipment for cutting, shaping , polishing hard materials like quartzite natural stone, quartz, porcelain, and other slab materials.

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor a SawJet CNC machine for precision cutting of stone slabs.

Set up and load materials according to job specifications.

Read and interpret shop drawings, cut lists, templates, and CAD/CAM files.

Create, modify, and prepare cutting programs for production.

Verify dimensions and cutting layouts before and during production.

Make machine adjustments and troubleshoot basic operating issues.

Perform quality checks to ensure accurate cuts and finished pieces.

Safely operate slab handling equipment, and other shop equipment as needed.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Perform routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance.

Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.

Work closely with the fabrication and installation teams to meet production schedules.

Minimize material waste while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Report equipment problems, damaged materials, or production issues to management.

Specific Requirements

Previous experience operating a SawJet, CNC , CNC Router, Waterjet, or similar CNC stone-cutting equipment.

Strong working knowledge of AlphaCAM is required !!!!

Experience creating, editing, nesting, and preparing CNC cutting programs.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings, measurements, and CAD files.

AutoCAD experience is a plus.

iCAM, EaseStone experience is a plus.

Experience working with granite, marble, quartz, quartzite, porcelain, or other stone materials is strongly preferred.

Understanding of stone fabrication processes and CNC cutting procedures.

Ability to perform accurate measurements and quality-control checks.

Basic troubleshooting skills and ability to make machine adjustments.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple production jobs.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Experience
3+ years of experience in stone fabrication or CNC operation.

Experience operating a SawJet or CNC bridge saw, Router .

AlphaCAM programming experience.

AutoCAD and/or iCAM or other CAD Software experience.

Knowledge of CNC tool paths, nesting, cutting parameters, and material optimization.

Experience with natural stone, quartz, porcelain, and other countertop materials.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and work for extended periods.

Ability to work around water, noise, and industrial equipment.

Ability to lift and move materials with proper equipment and assistance.

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
