Scrap Metal Yard Supervisor Needed

Full-Time Position 40+ Hours Weekly

Compensation: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour (Depending on Experience) + Some Benefits

Location: Big Iron Recycling Inc. 2650 W Beaver St Jacksonville, FL.

This is a busy, fast-paced scrap metal recycling yard that is seeking an experienced, high-energy Scrap Metal Yard Supervisor to oversee our daily yard operations. If you are a natural or experienced leader who knows how to keep a yard running safely, efficiently, and profitably, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities and Daily Operations: Oversee the grading, sorting, processing, and shipping of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals.

Team Leadership: Manage, train, and motivate a team of yard laborers and equipment operators.

Safety First: Enforce all safety protocols, OSHA compliance, and environmental regulations to maintain a hazard-free work environment.

Equipment Oversight: Ensure regular maintenance and safe operation of yard machinery, including excavators, material handlers, shears, and forklifts.

Customer Service: We are not open to the public, so this position will not be speaking with many customers.

Qualifications & Requirements/Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory experience in a scrap yard, recycling facility, or heavy industrial/construction environment.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of scrap metal grading (ferrous vs. non-ferrous) and pricing is highly preferred. However, we are willing to train you on the different materials.

Equipment Skills: Experience operating heavy machinery (forklifts, excavators, material handlers) is a major plus. You will be managing guys who run this equipment.

Physical Ability: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs consistently. Be willing to work with the guys doing what they do when needed.

Communication: Clear verbal communication skills and a firm commitment to safety culture and productivity.
