Insulation Subcontractor

Description

Overview

An Insulation Subcontractor is responsible for installing insulation materials in residential, commercial, or industrial buildings to improve energy efficiency, temperature control, and soundproofing. The subcontractor works independently or with a crew to complete insulation work according to building codes, safety standards, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Install insulation materials such as fiberglass, spray foam, cellulose, rigid foam, or mineral wool in walls, attics, floors, and crawl spaces.

Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and project specifications.

Measure and cut insulation materials to fit walls, ceilings, and mechanical systems.

Seal gaps and air leaks to improve energy efficiency.

Operate insulation equipment and tools safely.

Ensure all work complies with local building codes and safety regulations.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, and other subcontractors.

Complete projects within scheduled deadlines.

Qualifications

Proven experience installing residential or commercial insulation.

Knowledge of various insulation materials and installation techniques.

Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.

Strong attention to detail and safety practices.

Ability to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces or heights.

Must have own tools, equipment, and reliable transportation.

Valid business license and insurance (liability/workers comp if required).

Preferred Skills

Experience with spray foam insulation systems.

Knowledge of energy efficiency standards.

OSHA safety knowledge or certification.

Work Conditions

Indoor and outdoor construction environments.

May involve working in attics, crawl spaces, ladders, and scaffolding.

Physically demanding work requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
