Description

Company Background:

Heritage Metalworks is an award-winning architectural metal fabrication company specializing in one-of-a-kind, high-end residential projects. Since 2001, architects, designers, builders, and discerning homeowners have trusted us to produce exceptional architectural metalwork that cannot be purchased off the shelf.

Our facility includes dedicated custom fabrication, blacksmith, tin and copper, foundry, pattern, and finishing shops, allowing us to build virtually every component in-house. We manufacture custom lighting, hardware, gates, railings, stair systems, restoration work, and architectural elements where craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail are paramount.

This is not a production fabrication environment. Every project is unique and requires creativity, craftsmanship, and pride in your work.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Metal Fabricator capable of independently building complex, custom metalwork from raw materials through final assembly. This position is intended for a highly skilled craftsperson—not an entry-level fabricator or production welder. The ideal candidate can read prints, determine fabrication methods, solve problems independently, and consistently produce museum-quality architectural work with minimal supervision. If your experience is primarily structural steel, production welding, or repetitive manufacturing, this position is likely not the right fit.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Independently fabricate custom architectural metalwork from shop drawings and engineering prints.
  • Plan fabrication sequences and determine efficient manufacturing methods.
  • Set up and operate all required fabrication equipment without supervision.
  • Read and interpret architectural drawings, fabrication drawings, and shop sketches.
  • Perform precision layout work and maintain tight tolerances.
  • TIG, and oxy-fuel welding, brazing, and soldering.
  • Form, forge, roll, bend, cut, and shape steel, stainless steel, bronze, brass, copper, and aluminum.
  • Produce high-quality visible welds requiring minimal finishing.
  • Grind, polish, texture, patina, and finish exposed architectural surfaces.
  • Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and recommend practical solutions.
  • Work closely with designers, engineers, and project managers to ensure project intent is maintained.
  • Maintain exceptional craftsmanship while meeting project schedules.
  • Assist with mentoring junior fabricators when appropriate.
