Senior Automotive Mechanic (W-2) - Virdee's Foreign Automotive, Fremont CA

Virdee's Foreign Automotive has been repairing cars in Fremont for more than 50 years. The shop is still run day to day by its owner, Sohan Virdee, and most of our customers have been coming back for years, many of them for generations. We are looking for an experienced senior mechanic to join us on the floor.

The job

This is a regular hourly W-2 position, at least 30 to 40 hours a week. You will diagnose and repair a wide range of imported and domestic vehicles, take on the harder jobs, and help keep work moving through the shop on time.

What you will do:

• Diagnose and repair engines, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, A/C and drivability problems
• Use scan tools and service information to find the real cause, not just swap parts
• Do quality work and stand behind it, with few comebacks
• Keep your bay, tools and the shop clean and safe
• Follow California BAR rules and keep accurate notes on every repair order
• Work closely with the owner, who has run this shop for over 50 years, and respect how he does things while bringing your own experience

Who we are looking for

• Senior level: several years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician in an independent shop or dealership
• Strong diagnostic skills, especially on foreign makes (Toyota, Honda, BMW, Mercedes and similar)
• ASE certifications preferred
• Responsible and reliable: you show up on time, do what you say, and can be trusted with customers' cars
• You understand the pace of a busy shop and can stay steady when it gets full
• You work well alongside an owner with decades of experience and communicate clearly
• Valid California driver's license and a clean driving record
• Background check after a conditional offer
• References required

Pay and details

• Pay: $33 to $38 per hour, based on experience (hourly, W-2)
• Benefits: Healthcare subsidy
• Schedule: 8:30 am to 5 pm with a 30 minute lunch, 5 days a week. Typically Monday and Wednesday to Saturday (Tuesday and Sunday off), or Tuesday to Saturday (Sunday and Monday off)
