The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing maintenance on a variety of equipment and systems in a cGMP production environment with direction and oversight.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Key Responsibilities

Lead execution of assigned maintenance activities and work orders, ensuring completion in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Required to support and actively participate in Quality Management System (QMS) processes, including Deviations, Change Controls (CC), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), Environmental excursion investigations (EMERs), alarm investigations, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), in compliance with cGMP requirements, site quality standards, and applicable regulatory expectations.
Serve as a technical resource and escalation point for complex facility and utility system issues, providing advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions to minimize downtime and operational risk.
Perform and oversee Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) activities on facility and utility systems, including but not limited to air handlers, exhaust systems, electric heaters, electric boilers, chillers, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, compressed gas filter housings, lighting, building management systems (BMS), access controls, and pest control systems.
Plan and execute major facility shutdowns.
Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities in collaboration with Facilities Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and external vendors to support operational readiness and production schedules.
Apply advanced trade skills including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems to support facility maintenance, equipment repairs, troubleshooting, and minor installations.
Safely handle, change, and manage high-pressure process gas cylinders while ensuring strict adherence to applicable safety procedures, gas handling protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Support commissioning, qualification, and startup activities for facility equipment, utility systems, and infrastructure improvement projects.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians, promoting safe work practices, technical development, and adherence to GMP documentation standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance reliability, preventive maintenance optimization, equipment performance, and operational efficiency.
Ensure all maintenance activities are executed in compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, working at heights, contractor management, and other applicable safe work practices.
Maintain accurate and timely maintenance records, work orders, and asset documentation within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Provide regular updates to Facilities Management regarding maintenance status, scheduling priorities, operational risks, and system reliability concerns.
Maintain spare parts management program for critical equipment to minimize downtime.
Participate in on-call rotation and provide off-hours emergency maintenance support as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical trade school or accredited technical program preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of industrial facilities or maintenance experience, within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting facility and utility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, RO systems, boilers, compressed gas systems, and building automation systems.
Strong working knowledge of cGMP requirements, FDA compliance expectations, and regulated maintenance documentation practices.
