Service Mechanic/Refrigeration Mechanic - Beverage Equipment Chicago

Small shop, 100+ years, long-term position. We are expanding.

And we have two openings available.

1. Service Mechanic — Beverage Equipment. Field service and shop work. Mechanical and electrical skills required, refrigeration experience preferred. $20–35/hr based on experience.

2. Refrigeration Mechanic — You'd be designing and fabricating custom systems, not swapping parts. $25–40/hr. EPA 608 (Universal) required. Use your skills!

M–F 8:00am–4:30pm. May need flexible hours according to the job OT and Saturdays as needed.

Vintage and modern beverage, ice and refrigeration equipment — in our full-service shop and on site at businesses and residences. We have all the manuals and all the parts.

The work:

Service and installation on site — complete work tickets on location, recommend preventative maintenance, confirm job completion, collect payment method.
In-house refurbishing, repair, and testing on the bench - troubleshoot and diagnostics.
Custom system design and fabrication / metalwork, brazing soldering, welding. (refrigeration role)
Maintain your service vehicle, keep it stocked
Shop duties: staging next-day jobs, parts and supplies inventory, warranty returns, shipping and receiving, keeping the warehouse and benches orderly

Both roles need:

Valid IL driver's license and clear driving record

Mechanical experience and electrical knowledge
Power tool experience
Real diagnostic ability; able to read plans and diagrams
Planning skills to organize and run your own jobs
Good customer service skills — you deal directly with customers
Clean and neat; appropriate uniform and safety wear
Responsible enough to complete assignments independently

We are in the food service industry — certain guidelines and liabilities apply. Beverage equipment training and manuals available.

Chicago, near Grand Ave. and Oakley Boulevard.

Pay reviewed at 90 days, no cap. Health benefits provided to the employee.
