Shop Fabricator / Carpenter, Flooring Sample Production

InStride Surfaces is seeking a skilled, hands-on Shop Fabricator / Carpenter to join our team at our Vernon, California warehouse.

This is a full-time, ongoing W-2 position responsible primarily for the fabrication and assembly of flooring sample boards and flooring sample chain sets used to present our products to business partners, customers, and sales teams.

The ideal candidate has experience working with power tools and precision cutting equipment and comes from a background such as carpentry, woodworking, cabinetry, millwork, flooring, exhibit/display fabrication, sign fabrication, finish work, or a similar hands-on trade.

This is not a construction-site position. The work is performed on-site in our Vernon warehouse and fabrication area, with an emphasis on precision, consistency, craftsmanship, and efficient repeatable production.

What You'll Do

• Measure, mark, and precisely cut flooring materials to required specifications.
• Fabricate and assemble 24" x 24" flooring sample boards.
• Cut and prepare plywood, MDF, or other backing/substrate materials as required.
• Arrange flooring planks according to established sample layouts and specifications.
• Apply adhesives and securely mount flooring materials to sample boards.
• Trim and finish board edges to produce a clean, professional finished product.
• Cut, prepare, and assemble flooring sample chain sets according to established specifications.
• Safely operate table saws, miter saws, circular saws, and other applicable hand and power tools.
• Inspect completed samples for dimensional accuracy, appearance, adhesion, finish quality, and overall consistency.
• Follow established templates, specifications, and production standards.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe fabrication workspace.
• Identify opportunities to improve fabrication methods, jigs, templates, or workflow for greater consistency and efficiency.
• Assist with other sample-production or light fabrication needs as required.

What We're Looking For

We are open to candidates from a variety of skilled trades and fabrication backgrounds. A traditional carpentry background is not required if you have the hands-on skills necessary to perform the work.

Successful candidates should have:

• Previous hands-on experience in carpentry, woodworking, cabinetry, millwork, flooring, fabrication, display production, sign fabrication, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to safely and confidently operate power saws and other shop tools.
• Strong measuring, layout, and precision-cutting skills.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure and consistently work to defined dimensions and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing clean, professional finished work.
• Ability to perform repetitive fabrication work while maintaining consistent quality.
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently once trained on specifications and production standards.
• Dependability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Experience specifically working with flooring products is helpful, but not required.

InStride Surfaces will provide the tools and equipment required to perform the job.

Candidates who already own and are familiar with professional carpentry or fabrication tools are welcome to use their experience and knowledge, but personal tools are not required for employment.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on fabrication position. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

• Standing and working at fabrication tables or equipment for extended periods.
• Regular bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Handling flooring planks, sheet materials, sample boards, and fabrication supplies.
• Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
• Safely working around power tools, cutting equipment, noise, dust, and other conditions typical of a warehouse/fabrication environment.
• Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment when required.

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• 8-hour workday
• On-site in Vernon, CA 90058
• Scheduling flexibility is available, with an 8-hour shift worked between approximately 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM
• This is an on-site position and cannot be performed remotely
