Belden Construction is seeking an experienced, organized, and hands-on Shop Foreman to oversee the daily operations of its maintenance facility in Rutland, Vermont.

This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the company’s fleet of trucks, heavy equipment, trailers, and specialized tools is properly maintained, safe, and ready to support field operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the maintenance shop.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules for trucks, heavy equipment, trailers, and tools.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support maintenance personnel.
  • Review, prioritize, and approve work orders.
  • Monitor repair progress and equipment availability.
  • Coordinate major repairs with outside vendors and service providers.
  • Approve and submit employee timecards for shop and maintenance staff.
  • Monitor parts, supply, and shop equipment inventory.
  • Order materials and replacement parts as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and equipment histories.
  • Support compliance with company safety standards, DOT regulations, and preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Communicate equipment status and repair priorities with leadership, project managers, and field personnel.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and developing maintenance team members.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience as a Shop Foreman, Lead Mechanic, Maintenance Supervisor, or in a similar leadership role.
  • Experience in construction, heavy equipment, transportation, or a related industry is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of heavy equipment, commercial trucks, diesel engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, motivate, and manage a maintenance team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using maintenance tracking software.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel, email, and other standard computer applications.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred, but not required.
