Shop Manager – Commercial Glass & Door Company

We are looking for a dependable, organized, hands-on Shop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our commercial glazing and door shop.
This position is responsible for receiving and organizing materials, preparing trucks for installation crews, managing door hardware and inventory, and keeping the shop and yard clean, organized, and operating efficiently.
Responsibilities

  • Receive and unload incoming deliveries
  • Verify deliveries against packing slips and purchase orders
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage or missing items
  • Load company trucks with materials, doors, frames, glass, hardware, tools, and equipment for upcoming jobs
  • Stage materials by project so crews have everything needed before leaving the shop
  • Receive, sort, label, and organize door hardware
  • Organize hardware by project, door number, and hardware set
  • Maintain inventory of commonly used hardware, fasteners, sealants, aluminum, glass accessories, and shop supplies
  • Keep commercial doors, hollow metal frames, aluminum storefront materials, and other products organized
  • Maintain an organized shop, warehouse, and yard
  • Keep aisles, loading areas, and work areas clean and safe
  • Perform general building and shop maintenance
  • Maintain tools and shop equipment
  • Coordinate with project managers and field crews regarding materials needed for jobs
  • Help identify missing materials before installation crews are dispatched
  • Assist with material pickups and deliveries when necessary
  • Maintain company vehicles and trailers by reporting maintenance or repair needs
  • Help improve shop organization, storage, labeling, and inventory procedures
Qualifications
  • Dependable and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse/shop environment
  • Able to lift and move doors, hardware, glass-related materials, and construction supplies
  • Experience loading and securing construction materials is preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Commercial glass, glazing, storefront, door, frame, or hardware experience is a plus
  • Basic mechanical and maintenance skills
  • Ability to read labels, packing slips, material lists, and job information
  • Valid driver's license preferred
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with installers, project managers, vendors, and delivery drivers
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate takes ownership of the shop and makes sure materials are received, labeled, organized, staged, and ready when crews need them. We are looking for someone who notices problems before they become problems and takes pride in maintaining a clean, efficient, well-organized operation.
This is a hands-on position and is a good fit for someone with construction, warehouse, glazing, door hardware, shipping/receiving, or shop management experience.
