Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Shop/Fleet Manager to oversee the daily operations of our vehicle and equipment fleet. This role involves managing maintenance schedules, supervising repair processes, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of all heavy machinery and vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment operation, automotive diagnostics, and mechanical systems repair, combined with excellent leadership skills to coordinate a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee routine maintenance and repairs for all fleet vehicles and heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
Manage service schedules to minimize downtime while ensuring safety standards are met across all equipment.
Supervise mechanics and technicians performing diagnostics, repairs, welding, tire service, hydraulic work, electrical system repairs, and other mechanical tasks.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repair histories, schematics analysis, and parts inventory.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations such as air brake systems, suspension checks, alignment procedures, and diesel engine repairs.
Oversee procurement of parts and supplies needed for ongoing equipment maintenance and repair projects.
Lead troubleshooting efforts using schematics and technical manuals to resolve complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently.
Skills

Proven dealership experience with heavy equipment operation including excavators, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and other industrial machinery.
Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems repair such as transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC units for vehicles/equipment.
Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems including diagnostics for trucks.
Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and soldering techniques for equipment assembly or repair tasks.
Ability to read schematics accurately for troubleshooting electrical or hydraulic issues.
Experience managing vehicle maintenance programs with a focus on safety compliance like air brake systems and tire service.
Excellent leadership skills to supervise technicians while fostering a safe work environment focused on quality workmanship.
