Skilled Finish Carpenter, Ipe Deck Work. Paid Contract Work Test Sat 9/19 and Mon 9/21 (South Congress, Austin)

BigDecks is a premium outdoor design-build company in Austin. We have a project in closeout on a firm deadline and need a skilled carpenter on site this Saturday and Monday. This is paid contract work. If the fit is right, more work follows.

The work

Ipe decking and trim. Ipe is dense, unforgiving, and expensive. Cuts are tight, fasteners are laid out, and mistakes show. You should already know how it behaves: pre-drilling, blade choice, sealing end cuts, managing movement.

What we need from you

Precision. Consistent reveals, clean miters, measurements held to 1/16 or better.
Real skill on a table saw and router. Safe, confident, accurate.
Comfortable setting and working from a laser for layout and level.
Care for the work. You notice what is off and fix it without being told.
Respect for the client's space. Protected surfaces, contained dust, tools organized, site swept and clean at the end of every day.
Reliable transport, on time, own hand tools.

Dates: Saturday, September 19 and Monday, September 21

Hours: 8 am to 5 pm
Pay: $25 per hour for the work test, paid in full Monday at end of day. Rate increases for the right hire.
Terms: Independent contractor (1099). W-9 required before payment.
Location: South Congress, Austin
