Pay: $23.00–$25.00 per hour (based on experience and certifications)
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday–Saturday (weekends as needed)

We’re looking for a motivated California Smog Inspector who enjoys working with vehicles, helping customers, and being part of a growing business.

Job Summary

As a Smog Inspector at Kwic Smog, you will perform California Smog Check inspections, operate emissions testing equipment, inspect vehicles for compliance with state regulations, and deliver outstanding customer service. You will ensure every inspection is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) standards.
Responsibilities
Perform California Smog Check inspections on gasoline, hybrid, and eligible diesel passenger vehicles.
Operate BAR-certified emissions testing equipment.
Verify vehicle information and inspection requirements before testing.
Conduct visual, functional, and emissions inspections according to BAR guidelines.
Explain inspection results and any next steps to customers in a professional and friendly manner.
Maintain accurate digital records of inspections and customer information.
Keep the inspection area clean, organized, and compliant with all safety standards.
Follow all BAR regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
Work efficiently while providing exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

Required

Current California Smog Check Inspector License and have a score of Zero or atleast 0.40 or higher
Valid California Driver’s License
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to operate computers and emissions testing equipment.
Preferred
Previous experience performing California Smog Check inspections.
Knowledge of OBD-II systems, emissions control systems, catalytic converters, EVAP systems, oxygen sensors, and vehicle diagnostics.
