Solar Field Landscaper / Vegetation Management Technician
We are currently hiring Solar Field Landscaper/Vegetation Management Technician with 1+ years of experience in working outdoors on large-scale utility and commercial solar sites, performing groundskeeping, mowing, and vegetation control that keeps these sites safe, compliant, and productive. Candidates are encouraged to apply ASAP as we have an immediate need in the Richmond VA.
What You'll Do
- Mow, trim, and maintain vegetation around and beneath solar panel arrays using push mowers, riding mowers, brush cutters, and string trimmers
- Apply herbicide and vegetation growth suppressants per site specifications and safety protocols (certification/training provided if needed)
- Inspect panels and racking systems for vegetation encroachment, debris, or shading issues and report findings
- Maintain access roads, perimeter fencing lines, and drainage areas
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including routine cleaning and minor repairs
- Follow all site-specific safety protocols around energized electrical equipment
- Keep accurate records of work completed, hours, and site conditions
- Work efficiently across multiple solar sites within a service region as assigned
- Collaborate with crew leads and site technicians to prioritize daily tasks
- Prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, agriculture, or similar outdoor labor (1+ year preferred, but willing to train the right candidate)
- Comfortable operating mowers, trimmers, and hand tools; equipment experience a plus
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain
- Capable of lifting 50+ lbs and standing/walking for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Herbicide/pesticide applicator license or willingness to obtain one
- Experience working around industrial or electrical equipment
- OSHA 10 certification
- Familiarity with solar energy sites or utility-scale infrastructure
- Competitive starting pay $18 -$21/hr or depending on experience
