Solar Service Tech — $20-33/hr
Solar Technician
Description
NOW HIRING: SOLAR SERVICE TECHNICIAN — BATON ROUGE
Baton Rouge Air is a licensed solar and electrical contractor seeking an experienced field technician for residential service work throughout the greater Baton Rouge area.
THE WORK
This position is primarily diagnostic. Restoring monitoring communications, tracing rapid shutdown and inverter faults, isolating production losses, and getting offline systems talking again. Platforms include SolarEdge, Enphase, SMA, Tesla, and Generac. Occasional installation days as well.
WHO FITS
Technicians from cable, satellite, fiber, or low-voltage backgrounds translate directly into this work. If you've been running network diagnostics in the field, working from ladders and roofs, meeting closeout documentation requirements, and handling customers in their homes without supervision, you have the foundation. Solar experience is a plus, not a requirement — electrical and networking fundamentals matter more, and the solar side is trainable.
REQUIREMENTS
- Comfortable on roofs and extension ladders
- Able to read a meter and trace a circuit
- Practical networking knowledge — IP addressing, wireless troubleshooting, cable termination
- Thorough with photo and report documentation
- Reliable transportation to the shop
- Professional and even-tempered with homeowners
- Employment is contingent on a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review
Steady work, 32 to 40 hours per week depending on weather. New technicians are paired with experienced techs while they learn the solar side.
