ICON Fire & Life Safety is hiring an entry-level Fire Alarm Helper / ERCES Trainee in the Austin area.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term career in the fire and life safety industry. No fire alarm or ERCES experience is required, but you must be dependable, willing to learn, comfortable working with tools, and ready to show up every day with a good attitude.

We are looking for someone who wants more than just a job. We want someone who is interested in learning a trade that can grow into a real career.

What You’ll Learn

You’ll work alongside experienced technicians and learn how to install, service, and support fire and life safety systems, including:

Fire alarm systems

Device installation and testing
Troubleshooting basics
ERCES /Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems
Jobsite safety and professional customer service
How to read plans, follow instructions, and complete quality work

ERCES is a growing part of the life safety industry, and we are willing to train the right person from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

Typical work may include:

Assisting fire alarm technicians on commercial and multifamily projects
Pulling wire and installing low-voltage cable
Mounting devices, boxes, conduit, antennas, and related equipment
Helping test systems and document work
Keeping tools, materials, and work areas organized
Following safety procedures
Learning from experienced technicians in the field
What We’re Looking For

The right candidate will have:

Strong work ethic and dependable attendance

Willingness to learn and take direction
Basic comfort with hand tools and ladders
Ability to work on commercial jobsites
Good communication skills
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Clean, professional attitude with customers and coworkers
Ability to pass required background/drug screening

Experience in construction, electrical, low-voltage, cable, security, AV, IT, or mechanical work is helpful, but not required.
