SUBCONTRACTORS NEEDED – HOUSE WRAP INSTALLERS
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Subcontractor to install House Wrap. In this role, you will be responsible for installing weather-resistive barriers (house wrap) on residential and commercial structures before the final siding is applied. Your work will directly protect buildings from air infiltration, moisture damage, and mold growth.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Surface Preparation: Inspect exterior sheathing (plywood or OSB) to ensure it is clean, dry, and free of protruding nails before application.
- Material Installation: Measure, cut, and attach the house wrap (using staples or specialized cap nails) horizontally from the bottom of the structure up, overlapping edges to shed water downward.
- Window and Door Detailing: Carefully execute “Y” or angle cuts around window and door openings, folding the excess wrap inside and securing it to create a weather-tight seal.
- Sealing and Taping: Apply manufacturer-approved seam tape over all horizontal and vertical overlaps, tears, and penetrations to create a continuous air and moisture barrier.
- Site Safety: Adhere to all OSHA fall protection and job site safety protocols, working on scaffolding, ladders, or aerial lifts when necessary.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift rolls of material, and work comfortably at heights or in various weather conditions.
- Carpentry Knowledge: Familiarity with wall framing, reading blueprints, and understanding the building envelope (windows, flashing, and siding transitions).
- Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring and ensuring the material is pulled tight and securely taped without wrinkles or tears.
- Install Material: Roll out, measure, cut, and secure house wrap horizontally from the bottom up, ensuring proper overlapping to shed water.
- Flash Openings: Execute precise cuts around windows and doors, integrating flashing tapes to prevent leaks.
- Manage Materials: Monitor inventory on-site and report any material shortages or equipment maintenance needs to the crew leader.
- Hammer tacker, pneumatic stapler, or cap nailer.
- Utility knife with replacement blades.
- Ladders, scaffolding, for multi-story buildings.
