Tech – Coffee Equipment Service

Better Service – A Division of Better Brands

Pay: $25.00 – $38.00 per hour
Location: Field-based.

The Craft of the Work

Commercial espresso machines are incredible pieces of engineering — pressure, heat, electronics, and mechanics all working together.

We’re looking for people who want to learn the craft of keeping those machines running.

If you’re mechanically curious and enjoy fixing things, this role is your entry point into a skilled technical trade.

About Better Service

Better Service is the equipment service division of Better Brands, supporting coffee and hospitality businesses across the country.

Our technicians install, maintain, and repair the machines that keep cafés, restaurants, and hospitality operations running. From high-volume espresso machines to grinders and brewing systems, our mission is simple:

Keep our customers running with minimal downtime and exceptional service.

We believe great service comes from skilled technicians, clear communication, and fast response times.

The Opportunity

The Tech role is the starting point for a career in commercial coffee equipment service.

This is a hands-on, field-based position where you’ll work alongside experienced technicians learning how to install, maintain, and troubleshoot professional espresso equipment.

You don’t need years of experience — but you do need curiosity, mechanical instincts, and a willingness to learn.

If you like working with your hands, solving problems, and being out in the field instead of behind a desk, this role can grow into a long-term technical career.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working alongside experienced technicians, you will:

  • Assist with installation and setup of espresso machines and grinders
  • Perform preventive maintenance to keep equipment operating reliably
  • Learn to diagnose electrical, mechanical, and operational issues
  • Support emergency and scheduled repair calls
  • Use tools such as multimeters, hand tools, and diagnostic software
  • Read equipment manuals, diagrams, and service instructions
  • Document service activity, parts used, and work completed
  • Communicate professionally with café owners, managers, and staff
You’ll also learn the rhythm of field service — balancing technical work, customer communication, and efficient scheduling.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who are:

  • Curious and mechanically inclined
  • Reliable and comfortable working independently in the field
  • Good with customers and clear communicators
  • Comfortable using phones, mobile apps, and basic software
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Interested in learning a technical trade
Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work under or behind counters
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
What Success Looks Like

After about six months, a successful Tech will be:

  • Performing routine maintenance independently
  • Diagnosing basic equipment issues
  • Building strong relationships with customers
  • Managing service documentation and workflow
  • Ready to advance into a Field Service Technician role
