Description
Senior Low-Voltage Survey / Lead Technician – Immediate Openings
Vi-Tel is hiring experienced Senior Low-Voltage Technicians for an immediate multi-site network refresh project.
We are currently looking for experienced technicians to perform onsite surveys, estimating, and Bill of Materials (BOM) development, with the opportunity to transition into Lead Technician roles during the installation phase.
Current locations include:
● Little Rock, AR
● Springfield, MO
● Alexandria/Monroe, LA
● Oklahoma City, OK
Surveyors are needed ASAP.
What You’ll Be Doing
During the initial survey phase, technicians will:
● Perform detailed onsite surveys of existing facilities
● Review floor plans, heatmaps, and project scope
● Verify AP locations and determine Cat6A cable pathways
● Identify and document MDFs, IDFs, network racks, AV racks, ISP equipment, HVAC, door control, and other building systems
● Identify ceiling types, attic access, penetrations, difficult pathways, and potential installation issues
● Estimate cable lengths and labor requirements
● Mark up floor plans with proposed cable routes and equipment locations
● Take detailed photos and document existing site conditions
● Develop a complete site-specific Bill of Materials (BOM)
● Identify potential risks or conditions that could affect labor, materials, or pricing
Installation / Lead Technician Opportunity
Qualified technicians may transition from the survey phase into the installation rollout, including:
● Leading 2–4 person field crews
● Reviewing survey information and installation plans
● Assigning work and managing daily production
● Installing and supervising Cat6A cabling, J-hooks, sleeves, firestopping, racks, patch panels, APs, and network equipment
● Troubleshooting field conditions and cable-routing issues
● Ensuring testing, labeling, photos, and as-built documentation are completed
● Reporting progress, issues, and material needs to project management
Experience We’re Looking For
● 5+ years commercial low-voltage / structured cabling experience preferred
● Lead Technician or Foreman experience strongly preferred
● Strong Cat6/Cat6A installation knowledge
● Ability to read and mark up architectural floor plans
● Experience estimating labor and developing accurate material BOMs
● Experience with MDFs, IDFs, racks, patch panels, APs, and cable certification
● Strong knowledge of J-hooks, sleeves, penetrations, pathways, and firestopping
● Comfortable working with laptops, Excel, PDFs, and electronic drawings
● Able to work independently and make sound field decisions
● Reliable transportation
● Willingness to travel when required
Who We’re Looking For
This is not an entry-level position.
We need someone who can walk into a site and determine:
How should we build it?
How long should it take?
What materials will we need?
What problems could affect the installation?
We’re looking for experienced field technicians who understand how the work is actually built—not someone who simply completes a survey checklist.
Compensation
This is a senior/premium technician position, and compensation will be based on experience.
● Competitive higher-end hourly or daily rates
● Local technicians preferred
● Regional travel opportunities available
● Mileage and applicable travel expenses provided
● Opportunity to continue into Lead Technician work during the installation rollout
