Description
The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for building, repairing, maintaining, and modifying precision tools, dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and gauges used in manufacturing operations. This position requires expertise in precision machining, blueprint reading, troubleshooting, and quality inspection to ensure tooling meets engineering specifications and production requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Build, repair, modify, and maintain tools, molds, and fixtures, dies: progressive, blank, line and transfer dies
- Set up and operate machine tools such as CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses
- Repair worn or damaged dies and tooling to minimize production downtime
- Measure and inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and CMMs)
- Perform precision machining, fitting, grinding, polishing, and assembly of tooling components.
- Work with engineers and production teams to improve tool performance and manufacturing efficiency
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models
- Assemble and disassemble dies and tooling for maintenance and repair
- Must have 10 years of experience as a tool and die maker
- High school diploma or equivalent
- If there is Completion of a Tool and Die apprenticeship or vocational training is an asset
- Journeyman Tool and Die certification is an asset
- Experience with metalworking, machining, and precision manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to operate machinery and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and metalworking fluids while following all safety procedures
