JOB DESCRIPTION
Cedar Lake Metal Solutions is looking for a motivated Tool Maker Apprentice / Intern to join our team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced Toolmakers, learning the fundamentals of tool, die, and fixture maintenance in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.
You will play a critical role in quality control and tool management by reviewing tools and dies returning from production before they are cleared and returned to tooling inventory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspection & Quality Review: Clean and visually inspect incoming tooling, including welding fixtures, machining fixtures, progressive stamping dies, and specialized forming dies—for obvious damage, cracked components, or worn parts.
• Documentation: Write up clear, detailed findings or reports on tool conditions for review by senior Toolmakers.
• Staging & Preparation: Prepare and teardown dies or fixtures as needed to assist Toolmakers with deeper inspections, maintenance, or repairs.
• Tool Inventory Management: Organize and return fully inspected and approved tools back to designated tooling inventory locations.
• Shop Safety: Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with shop safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Required:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent (or currently enrolled in a relevant technical/trade school program).
• Basic mechanical aptitude and a strong desire to learn the tool & die trade.
• Good visual attention to detail and hands-on problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting tool conditions.
• Physical Requirement: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and safely maneuver tool components following shop safety procedures.

Preferred (Pluses, but Not Required):

• Manufacturing experience in a shop or production environment.
• Forklift operation experience (certified or willing to be certified).
• Ability to read basic blueprints or technical drawings (willing to train!).

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, systems-driven Shipping Warehouse Manager to lead our outbound logistics and order fulfillment process. This is a highly active, hands-on role centered on logistical accuracy, document processing, and system management rather than heavy manual labor. Managing a close-knit team of 4-6 direct reports, you will ensure orders are processed flawlessly through our software systems and out the door on time, assuring shipments are properly prepared to avoid damage and meet customer requirements.

Core Responsibilities

• Logistics & Carrier Scheduling: Coordinate, schedule, and route all incoming and outgoing trucks, freight carriers, and local pickups to meet strict delivery deadlines.
• System & Data Management: Utilize ERP/MRP systems daily to accurately log inventory movements, close out fulfillment batches, and update system statuses.
• Shipping Documentation: Independently process, verify, and archive all critical transit paperwork, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing slips, and product receipts.
• Team Supervision: Directly manage, schedule, and train warehouse personnel, ensuring they maintain productivity and adhere to company standard operating procedures.
• Process Oversight: Maintain an active on-the-floor presence to audit processing steps, troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, and ensure fulfillment compliance.
