Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Trailer Mechanic, where you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of trailers and equipment. This energetic role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of machinery, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability. As a key player in our maintenance operations, you'll utilize your mechanical expertise to troubleshoot issues, perform repairs, and contribute to the seamless operation of our transportation and industrial services. Your hands-on skills and proactive
approach will keep our fleet moving efficiently and safely every day.

Duties

• Diagnose and repair trailer systems including brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical components using schematics and technical manuals
• Perform routine maintenance such as LBTA's, DOT's, tire services, wheel alignments, and inspections on trailers and periodically truck's as needed.
• Fabricate parts or modifications using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure trailers meet operational standards
• Maintain detailed service records including inspection reports, repair logs, and compliance documentation
• Assist with assembly or disassembly of trailers and industrial equipment during repairs or upgrades
• Utilize work van to go on the road for repairs periodically at various yards in Sparks and out of town in emergency situations

Requirements

• Proven experience as a trailer mechanic
• Knowledge of schematics, electrical systems, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, tires and other trailer components required
• Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and other maintenance tools
• Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks regularly
• Familiarity with service technician procedures for brake repair, tire service, alignment adjustments, and vehicle maintenance
• Experience working with heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes or farm equipment is highly desirable
• Strong mechanical knowledge combined with communication skills to work effectively with office staff and drivers
