Position Summary
The Hyperscale Network Specialist III is a senior technical specialist responsible for advanced network validation, troubleshooting, activation readiness, and infrastructure quality within hyperscale data center environments. This position serves as a primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) and escalation point for complex network infrastructure issues.
Working under the direction of a Hyperscale Lead Technician, the Network Specialist III independently leads complex network audits, advanced diagnostics, technical investigations, and root cause analysis across Front-End Network (FENW), Back-End Network (BENW), structured cabling, fiber optic systems, and network hardware.
This position provides technical leadership and mentorship to Network Specialist I and II personnel and works closely with field leadership, trade partners, and customers to improve network quality, operational consistency, commissioning readiness, and customer acceptance.
Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert for network validation, troubleshooting, activation readiness, and infrastructure quality.
  • Independently lead advanced network validation across FENW, BENW, structured cabling, fiber optic systems, and network hardware.
  • Lead technical investigations involving multi-circuit failures, recurring deficiencies, customer escalations, activation delays, complex connectivity issues, and commissioning deficiencies.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting using engineering drawings, one-line diagrams, splice documentation, network architecture, customer standards, and project documentation.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify installation deficiencies, workmanship concerns, material issues, documentation discrepancies, equipment failures, and systemic network problems.
  • Perform and evaluate advanced fiber testing using OLTS, OTDR, Optical Power Meters (OPM), Visual Fault Locators (VFL), digital fiber inspection scopes, loopback testing, Permanent Link testing, channel validation, and end-to-end circuit testing.
  • Interpret OTDR traces to identify connector and splice loss, reflection events, macro bends, fiber breaks, excessive attenuation, installation defects, and network degradation.
  • Analyze BERT results, Bit Error Rate (BER), Forward Error Correction (FEC), Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), port statistics, and other network performance indicators.
  • Validate network readiness for customer activation, including physical installation, connectivity, testing, labeling, asset management, equipment readiness, documentation, and quality compliance.
  • Review customer testing packages and turnover documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Perform authorized advanced remediation and ensure corrective actions are properly documented and validated.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting efforts involving technicians, specialists, trade partners, field leadership, and customer representatives.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, field demonstrations, and problem-solving support to Network Specialist I and II personnel.
  • Assist Hyperscale Lead Technicians with technical planning, work sequencing, audit prioritization, and resource allocation.
  • Support customer walkdowns, quality audits, commissioning, integrated systems testing, turnover, and customer acceptance activities.
  • Participate in customer coordination meetings and provide technical recommendations related to testing, remediation, network quality, and activation readiness.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Support the development of standardized audit procedures, technical work instructions, quality initiatives, and project best practices.
  • Maintain accurate testing records, technical documentation, ticketing information, asset records, and customer-ready turnover packages.
Position Requirements
Education & Training
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of required customer onboarding, project-specific training, qualification requirements, and technical authorization programs.
  • OSHA 10 required.
Experience
  • 4–6+ years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, fiber optics, network infrastructure, mission-critical construction, hyperscale data centers, or a related technical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience independently performing advanced network validation, testing, troubleshooting, and remediation.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale commissioning, turnover, and customer acceptance activities.
