Ground Operations Worker and Driver
Description
We are looking for a dependable, safety-minded worker who is ready to put in an honest day’s work as a Tree Service Groundman & Driver. This is a physical, fast-paced outdoor job for someone who takes pride in working with a crew, keeping job sites clean, and getting the job done right. Tree-service experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person with a strong work ethic and a good attitude.
What You’ll Do
- Drive company trucks and tow trailers to and from job sites safely.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload tools, equipment, brush, logs, and debris.
- Drag brush, feed the chipper, rake, shovel, and complete job-site cleanup.
- Assist climbers and equipment operators by handling ropes, tools, and rigging as directed.
- Set up cones, signs, and work zones to help protect the crew, customers, and public.
- Operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other tools when trained and authorized.
- Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
- Follow all company safety rules and applicable OSHA, ANSI, and DOT requirements.
- Communicate clearly with crew members and treat customers and property with respect.
- Help with storm cleanup, emergency work, and other duties as assigned.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- No DUI history.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Ability to understand instructions, work safely, and stay alert around moving equipment.
- Willingness to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, and uneven terrain.
- Must be able to work well as part of a crew and maintain a professional attitude.
- Regularly lift and carry heavy items.
- Stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, kneel, squat, twist, pull, push, and climb.
- Work around loud equipment, wood chips, sawdust, traffic, and changing job-site conditions.
- Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Previous tree service, landscaping, construction, farming, logging, or outdoor labor experience.
- Experience driving trucks and towing trailers.
- Experience with chainsaws, brush chippers, ropes, trailers, or small-engine equipment.
