Wanted: Diesel Mechanic

Charps is looking for an experienced Diesel & Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at our Clearbrook shop in northern Minnesota.

At Charps, we believe in showing up prepared, taking ownership and doing the job right. As our Mechanic, you will play an important role in keeping the trucks, trailers and equipment our crews depend on safe, reliable and ready to work.

What You’ll Do

Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair a variety of trucks, trailers and heavy equipment
Work with electrical systems, air brake systems, hydraulics and air compressors
Maintain and repair Tier 3 and Tier 4 diesel engines
Perform DOT inspections
Complete welding and fabrication work as needed
Maintain accurate service and repair records
Help identify equipment issues before they become larger problems
Support field operations when periodic travel is required

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience maintaining and repairing diesel trucks or heavy equipment
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Experience with electrical, hydraulic and air brake systems
Ability to work independently and take ownership of repairs
Welding and fabrication experience
Basic computer skills
CDL or the ability to obtain one
Ability to perform—or become qualified to perform—DOT inspections
