About the Role
Watkins Awnings has been in business since 2009 and remains privately owned and operated. We are seeking a reliable, skilled Awning Installer to join our team. This position involves installing, assembling, and repairing awnings and shade structures for residential and commercial clients throughout the Greater Richmond area. If you enjoy hands-on work, take pride in craftsmanship, and are comfortable working outdoors and at heights, this role is a great fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Measure installation sites and determine mounting requirements
• Assemble awning frames, supports, and fabric or metal components
• Install awnings using ladders, lifts, and appropriate safety equipment
• Secure awnings with proper fasteners and ensure correct tension and alignment
• Remove or replace existing awnings as needed
• Perform maintenance and repairs on installed awnings
• Read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and installation instructions
• Operate hand and power tools safely (impact drivers, drills, saws, etc.)
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and company equipment
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members

Qualifications

• Experience in awning installation or a related construction trade preferred
• Strong measurement and basic math skills
• Ability to work comfortably at heights and on ladders or scaffolding
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work in various weather conditions
