We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our dynamic manufacturing and fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately measuring, cutting, forming, machining, and assembling sheet metal components used to manufacture electrical enclosures, control cabinets, panels, junction boxes, and custom metal housings. The ideal candidate will have strong blueprint-reading skills, attention to detail, and experience working with precision sheet metal fabrication equipment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, shop drawings, schematics, fabrication drawings, and engineering specifications.
- Fabricate electrical enclosures, control cabinets, electrical panels, junction boxes, covers, brackets, and custom sheet metal assemblies.
- Measure, mark, cut, bend, punch, drill, form, and assemble sheet metal components according to specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Operate press brakes, shears, punches, plasma cutters, saws, drills, grinders, and other sheet metal fabrication equipment.
- Set up and operate press brake equipment to accurately form sheet metal components and maintain required bend angles and dimensions.
- Perform layout, drilling, tapping, punching, cutting, and other machining operations required for electrical enclosure fabrication.
- Install and assemble hinges, latches, handles, brackets, mounting plates, hardware, and other enclosure components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, tape measures, squares, levels, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Work with materials including galvanized steel, cold-rolled steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other sheet metal products.
- Follow engineering drawings and specifications to ensure proper hole locations, cutouts, bends, dimensions, and component placement.
- Inspect completed parts and assemblies to verify dimensions, fit, finish, workmanship, and compliance with specifications.
- Identify and correct fabrication issues, dimensional discrepancies, and fit-up problems.
- Work closely with engineering, electrical assembly, quality control, and production teams to resolve fabrication and assembly issues.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records as required.
- Safely operate material-handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes when qualified.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety procedures.
- Follow established quality-control procedures and production standards to ensure consistent, high-quality electrical enclosure products.
- Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS OR MORE, electrical enclosure manufacturing & industrial fabrication.
- Experience fabricating electrical enclosures, control cabinets, electrical panels, junction boxes, or similar sheet metal products is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications.
- Experience operating press brakes, shears, punches, plasma cutters, drills, saws, grinders, and other fabrication machinery.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal layout, bending, forming, cutting, drilling, tapping, and assembly processes.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, squares, and gauges.
- Ability to perform basic shop math, including measurements, fractions, decimals, angles, and dimensional calculations.
- Experience working with stainless steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, cold-rolled steel, and other sheet metal materials.
- Familiarity with electrical enclosure components, hardware, mounting systems, hinges, latches, gland plates, back panels, and related hardware is a plus.
- Experience with tapping, countersinking, deburring, grinding, and finishing sheet metal components.
- Ability to work from detailed drawings and maintain tight dimensional tolerances.
- Manufacturing or industrial production experience with a strong understanding of workplace safety.
- Forklift, overhead crane, or other material-handling experience is a plus. <
