Welder / Gate Fabricator & Multi-Trade Maintenance Technician

We are a Houston-based property management and construction company looking for a skilled, hands-on Welder / Gate Fabricator & Multi-Trade Maintenance Technician to join our team.

We are looking for someone who is more than just a welder. The ideal candidate can fabricate and install steel gates, fencing, railings, and other metal projects, while also being capable of handling general construction and apartment maintenance work when fabrication projects are not underway.

This is a full-time position with steady work. We manage our own apartment properties and also perform construction and improvement projects for third-party customers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Fabricate steel pedestrian and security gates from raw material
• Fabricate ornamental steel fencing, railings, frames, brackets, and similar components
• MIG weld and perform general steel fabrication
• Measure, cut, fit, square, weld, grind, and finish fabricated assemblies
• Install steel fence posts, panels, gates, hinges, closers, and mechanical hardware
• Repair sagging or damaged gates and fencing
• Modify gates to accommodate existing electronic access-control hardware
• Perform field welding and repairs
• Prep and paint fabricated steel
• Demolish and remove existing fencing and gates
• Perform general apartment maintenance and construction work as needed

You do not need to be an expert in every trade. We are primarily looking for someone who is an excellent fabricator/welder and is comfortable working across several construction and maintenance trades.

What We're Looking For

You should be able to take measurements from an existing opening and independently fabricate a professional-quality gate that:

• Is square and flat
• Has consistent spacing
• Has clean, strong welds
• Does not warp during fabrication
• Hangs correctly
• Opens and closes smoothly
• Properly aligns with the latch/locking hardware
• Looks professionally finished

We are not looking for someone whose welding experience is limited to occasional repair welds. You should have real experience fabricating finished products from raw steel.

Requirements

• Professional welding/fabrication experience
• Experience with MIG welding
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately and lay out fabrication work
• Ability to operate saws, grinders, drills, welders, and standard construction tools
• Ability to independently troubleshoot problems in the field
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Dependable and able to work full-time
• Able to work at apartment communities and construction sites throughout Houston

Preferred

• Previous gate and ornamental fence fabrication experience
• Commercial gate installation experience
• Apartment maintenance experience
• Experience working with electric strikes, magnetic locks, gate closers, or access-controlled gates
• Ability to weld both in the shop and in the field
• Experience leading or working with a small construction crew
