Description
Lostine is seeking a talented and dedicated woodworker and wood finisher to join our small dynamic production team. This position will focus primarily on the prepping and finishing of wood products and supporting our vintage furniture lead with refinishing and repairs, while also assisting with leatherworking, metal finishing, and assembly as needed.
The ideal candidate has a wide range of woodworking and wood finishing knowledge and is comfortable working on small batch production runs and also confident working on high-value, one-of-a-kind pieces. While experience is desirable, we are willing to train the right candidate. Applicants should be self-motivated, dependable, strive for quality in their work, and be able to adapt to evolving priorities.
Lostine has a high-mix production shop where every member plays a crucial role and cross-training is essential. This is a great fit for someone looking to build upon their existing skills while developing new ones to become an integral part of our team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and sand wood parts for finishing.
- Apply a variety of hand stains and finishes and spray finishes.
- Assemble products composed of wood, metal, and leather parts.
- Working under the vintage furniture lead, help assess and evaluate vintage furniture pieces for repair and refinishing.
- Perform furniture repairs, including fixing joints, hardware, and veneers, ensuring structural integrity.
- Strip, sand, and refinish wooden surfaces, applying stains, paints, and finishes to match existing finishes and achieve the desired aesthetics.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Assist in other areas of the production shop as needed, including leatherworking, metal finishing, and assembly.
- Experience using a variety of woodworking tools and equipment, such as hand drills, orbital sanders, lathes, and drill presses.
- Some wood staining and spray finishing experience.
- Previous experience or strong interest in furniture repair and refinishing.
- Ability to balance detailed work with timely execution.
- Ability to focus on quality while performing repetitive tasks.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Good communicator comfortable working independently or within a team.
- Coachable in learning new methods and adaptable to a fast-paced work environment.
- Knowledge of furniture construction, wood types, finishes, and restoration techniques.
- Familiarity working with leather, brass, or other materials.
- Familiarity with machine sewing and hand stitching.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

8am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday
