Our commitment to efficiency, excellence and craftsmanship sets us apart in the industry. We are currently seeking a Wood Shop Fabricator to join our team and contribute to our continued success.
Job Description:
As a Wood Shop Fabricator, you will play a key role in the production of our wood products. Metal parts are currently produced out of house. While not required, experience with welding, python or low voltage electronics would be a huge bonus. You will be responsible for crafting, assembling, and finishing various wood pieces after they come off the CNC according to specifications and design requirements in the shop drawings. This role requires a combination of technical skill, attention to detail, and creativity to produce high-quality finished products. We currently have 20 off-the-shelf exhibits that we manufacture to client specifications. We also handle custom exhibit builds when requested by clients and these may or may not have shop drawings. If shop drawings aren't available for custom exhibits, you will be working with the team to complete the build. You may also be cross trained on making cut files for the CNC.
Responsibilities:
-Interpret shop drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
-Operate a variety of woodworking machinery and hand tools, including saws, planers, routers, sanders, and drills, safely and effectively.
-Cut, shape, and assemble wood components to construct furniture, cabinetry, fixtures, or other wood products.
-Perform precise measurements and ensure accuracy in cutting and shaping wood pieces.
-Sand, stain, paint, or finish wood surfaces according to specified colors and finishes.
-Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.
-Collaborate with team members, including designers and fabricators, to ensure efficient production processes and timely completion of projects.
-Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper storage and maintenance of tools and equipment.
-Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and team members.
-Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
-Some travel to install exhibits when needed.
Desired Experience:
-3+ years’ experience as a woodworker or carpenter, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work (required).
-Proficiency in operating woodworking machinery and hand tools.
-Ability to read and interpret, shop drawings, and specifications.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of quality.
-Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
-Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
-Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
-Knowledge of wood properties, joinery techniques, and finishing processes are a plus.
-Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies in woodworking.
-Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and guidelines.
Education and Experience:
-High school diploma or equivalent required; additional vocational training or certification in woodworking or carpentry preferred.
-Proven experience in woodworking or carpentry.
