Heartwood Restoration is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented person to join our historic wood window restoration team.
No restoration or construction experience is required. We provide paid, hands-on training for someone who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in careful work, and genuinely wants to learn a skilled trade.
Already have experience in carpentry, glass installation, woodworking, painting, window installation, or another building trade? We’d also like to hear from you. Historic restoration offers a different kind of challenge: preserving original craftsmanship rather than replacing it.
What you’ll do
- Help restore and repair historic wood windows
- Perform careful wood repairs and related finish work
- Work in occupied homes throughout San Diego’s historic neighborhoods
- Protect clients’ homes and maintain a clean, organized jobsite
- Learn traditional window-restoration methods and develop increasingly advanced skills
- Work collaboratively with a small restoration team

Experience with trim carpentry, woodworking, glass installation, window or door installation, painting, or other detailed trade work is valuable but not required.
Compensation and schedule
- $20–$24 per hour for an entry-level candidate, depending on relevant experience and skills
- Higher starting compensation is negotiable for candidates with applicable trade experience
- Full-time position requiring availability from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Paid, hands-on training in a specialized restoration trade
