Description
As a Working Foreman for Universal Land Construction, our ideal candidate will safely execute the grading and equipment operation of each project. You will provide technical direction and have responsibility for safety, productivity, and quality of work for the project. Our Working Foreman will understand and meet productivity goals and measure performance as well as schedule labor, materials, and equipment with the assistance of the Owner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- You maintain a personal Spirit of Excellence, you’re able to execute Company projects in the field.
- You have a Cheerful & Positive attitude, excellent communication and organizational skills.
- You have thorough knowledge of all aspects of RESIDENTIAL CUSTOM HOME SITE DEVELOPMENT excavation and finish grading operations (GPS Technology, Cat equipment, and earthmoving methods), soil type characteristics, moisture processing, compaction, building pad overbuilds, retaining wall cutbacks, over-excavation, original ground preparation, rock excavation/hammering and safety.
- You are a Professional Level Equipment Operator on most Cat type equipment including Cat Excavators with GPS and Hydraulic Linked Thumbs. You can also safely operate Loaders, Compactors, Track Loaders & Gannon’s. We incorporate Trimble Grade & Site Control Systems (GPS) into every project.
- You coordinate any design conflict documentation and field fit clarification with the Superintendent & Owner.
- You provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to all employees including laborers & operators.
- Your work is executed according to contract terms and conditions.
- You conduct weekly safety tailgate talks and prepare daily field reports.
- The construction site is yours to manage including, daily work progression, jobsite organization, and jobsite safety.
- You organize and direct field personnel to achieve safe completion of the project, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with plans/specs & regulations.
- You interact effectively with clients, inspectors, project team and other stakeholders to maintain a positive environment and exceptional project experience.
- You don’t have any habits that would detract from the safe operation of your company vehicle or cleanliness of the heavy equipment.
- You always represent the Company professionally, and maintain positive relationships with clients, owners, subcontractors, vendors and other employees.
- GED, High School Education or higher
- Must be able to Speak, ‘Read & Write in English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform the essential duties of this position, including understanding safety instructions, jobsite directions, work assignments, warning signs, and communicate with the owner, supervisors and coworkers.
- 3+ Years of Foreman/Site Management experience in Residential Excavation, Rough Grade and Finish Grade construction, including a complete understanding of construction documents, means/methods, materials & equipment utilization, productivity and site safety requirements.
- A proven track record of excavation & grading project success and profitability.
- Demonstrate decision making skills in a fast-paced, high production environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented with the ability to execute projects up to $1,000,000.00.
- Valid Driver's license with clean MVD record.
- CPR, First Aid and minimum OSHA 30 Hour certification preferred.
- MSHA & OSHA preferred.
- Wages starting +/- $50/Hour commensurate with relevant experience. Future raises are merit based.
